Talking to strangers.

**UPDATE** 90% of the people you will talk to on Omegle are smacktards and trolls…. just be warned :P I some how caught a couple people that where really interesting… and they where as surprised as I was after the others I had before… kind of makes me rethink the rest of what I wrote earlier… screw strangers… they are mainly assholes.

**/UPDATE**

I ran across an interesting website today. The sort that can kind of make you think. It is a website that lets you chat with a complete stranger, completely anonymously. I was struck by how simple it was. Then I got a little worried, what am I going to talk about with someone who I randomly met just seconds ago. And I still know nothing about them. But it was surprisingly easy to get into a really good conversation. I think it might have been easier because he/she (they didn’t mention their gender) was an enterprise programmer from India. Computer people always have something to talk about. But what happens next time when I hit the friendly blue “start a chat” button and end up talking to a housewife in Maryland? Will the conversation still be as enjoyable?

Then I started thinking. How about the people I see every day on my way to work? It’s pretty much the same thing. I don’t know anything about them… instead of being a blank chat window they are a picture, a face I see regularly but nothing behind it. Like the older couple that walks the opposite way I am riding every day. They are out there rain or shine every day just like I am. But I don’t know anything other than that.

So the question is… will you start a conversation today? (and just for the record I am sad to say I probably won’t)
